Why Complete the FAFSA?

Even if you don't think you will qualify.

Point is you never know if you qualify unless you actually complete a FAFSA.  What you could potentially qualify for:

Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Work Study, Low interest Loans, etc...  Another reason, complete the FAFSA and you complete your application for State Financial Aid and in many cases, institutional aid.  Even if you don't complete it now, your colleges is probably going to require that you do at some point.

Details and Resources

1.  Student Aid Report (SAR)

Document emailed or mailed by Federal Processing Center after the FAFSA is processed.

2.  Make Corrections to FAFSA

Changes can be made after you have submitted.  Log into your account at fafsa.gov

3.  Verification

If you get selected for verification, don't panic.  Simply follow the instructions they provide.  Using the IRS Retrieval Tool will lessen the chances you get a notice for verification.  This tool will not guarantee you won't get selected but will improve your odds of not being selected for verification.

4.  Expected Family Contribution (EFC)

Your EFC is not the amount of money your family will have to pay for college nor is it the amount of Federal student aid you will receive.  It is the number the FAFSA folks use to calculate the amount of Federal student aid you are eligible to receive.
